<h2><em>There are many steps to take when it comes to losing weight.</em></h2>
<p>Setting your target weight goal, planning your weekly meals, learning new exercises, and finding a training partner can all be part of the weight loss process.  <strong>But there is one crucial step that must precede all others&#8230;</strong></p>
<p>And in an interesting twist, many marketers of fitness and weight loss programs try to convince you that you don&#8217;t need this step.  Watch the video below to see if you are missing this key ingredient to fat loss success:</p>

<p>If you read the sales pages or watch the sales videos for many of the best selling weight loss, &#8220;belly fat&#8221;, and&#8221; six pack abs&#8221; programs, you&#8217;ll hear a line come up over and over again:</p>
<h2><em>&#8220;It&#8217;s not your fault.&#8221;</em></h2>
<p>The savvy marketer intentionally uses this blame shifting technique to build report and implant an &#8220;us versus them&#8221; mentality.  They go on to tell you that your struggle to lose weight is the fault of the glossy fitness magazines, bad genetics, and even the government&#8230;</p>
<h2>What a load of b#llshit.</h2>
<p>These marketers use this blame shifting tactic so that you feel less guilty when you buy yet another weight loss product and purchase their program.  <em>Well I have a newsflash for you&#8230;</em></p>
<h2><strong>It is your fault.</strong></h2>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>You ate the free donuts at the office and hit the fast food drive-thru for lunch.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>You bought the armload of fancy fitness DVD&#8217;s from a late night infomercial and let them sit in the back of your closet still encased in shrink wrap.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>You joined the big fancy Globo-gym with the New Year&#8217;s rush and then stopped going after your second session.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong><em>You are the one who is too tired, too bored, too stubborn, or too &#8220;unmotivated&#8221; to change your diet and fitness habits.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>But it doesn&#8217;t have to be that way.</strong>  You CAN change.  And that change starts with embracing responsibility.</p>
<p><em>When we relinquish responsibility, we lose all power to change. </em> The college student who flunks the midterm exam and blames the professor or text book can do nothing to improve.  But the student who acknowledges that their own study habits were the cause of failing gets a tutor, puts in extra time on their studies, creates flash cards and other study aids, and models the study habits of the students with good grades.  <em>They take responsibility.</em>  They analyze what didn&#8217;t work in the past, practice new tactics largely derived from mentors and models, and they take action.</p>
<p><strong>The same thing can be done with your weight loss efforts or any other change that you want to make when you accept personal responsibility and embrace the power to change.</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I don&#8217;t care how much family pressure there is to eat a second helping of Aunt Tillie&#8217;s famous lasagna, you are the one who put it on the fork and swallowed it.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>I don&#8217;t care if your boss is buying another round at happy hour, you are the one who drank the beer.</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong><em>And I don&#8217;t care what some Internet marketer of the latest $47 weight loss program says&#8230;</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>It absolutely is your fault.</strong>  And that is a beautiful thing.  Embrace that responsibility.  And embrace the power of change that comes with it.</p>
